Disaster happens fast

We went to a barbecue at my oldest son’s house. Our daughter-in-law, the grandkids, and her mother were all there, our daughter met us there. Our other son agreed to watch the dogs for us.

We stayed about two hours, because we are both scheduled to work early tomorrow. When we left, our son called and said something was wrong with Nyx. We sped all the way home.

I recognized the signs of heatstroke immediately. I know some of the first aid, because I’ve owned dogs all of my life. We put her in the sink and tried to cool her down with wet rags. Keep in mind that she was home, with a shady backyard, and an air conditioned house.

She died in my arms on the way to the emergency vet. They tried resuscitation, but I knew before we walked in.

I’m not going to respond to comments on this one. I also don’t feel like researching how to turn them off on one post. I have no more words to say.

This news is devastating. I’m so sorry for you, your family, and your other dogs. Take heart in the fact that you gave her a lovely home and a lovely life in the short time you had her, and know you’re all in my prayers.
