The Hat series is about a girl named Lizzie who inherits a hat. He isn’t really a hat, but a being from another dimension who was trapped here in the form of a hat. He is bound to Lizzie’s family, and she is his most recent possessor. Together, they have a kind of symbiosis that allows them to fight monsters.
These are intended to be shorter reads and are full of dark humor.
This symbiosis also allows them to play music, and they have a small cover band. Lizzie sings, and the hat manipulates her hands and fingers to play the upright bass. As you can imagine, they have quite a playlist after a few books, and I’ve decided to share it here. This is the playlist for Lizzie and the Pythons, broken down by book:
The Hat: This one is the origin story of the hat, and includes the meeting between he and Lizzie St. Laurent. It is my best seller and the most heavily reviewed book in my library. They have to combine their unique talents to take down a group of baby snatchers.
Viral Blues: This is the popular follow up to The Hat. This time, someone is tampering with the nation’s vaccine supply. There is a supernatural phenomenon behind the whole affair. This story also includes an all-star cast of popular characters from my previous stories. Lizzie and The Pythons become an official band and take on a few new band members who are joining the permanent cast.
Rockin’ Pneumonia & the Boogie Woogie Flu
The Ballad of Mrs. Molony: This story has Lizzie and the hat trying to rescue a woman from some vampires. They were rodeo cowboys when they were alive, so Lizzie and The Pythons have to follow the country music circuit to hunt them down. Lizzie struggles with a steady diet of this kind of music, and has a small rebellion.
