Okay, so I admit to being responsible for my own attitude. Last week was shitty, and I can either walk in with a bad attitude, or find a way to get over it. It won't be easy, but I hope I'm capable of getting on with things.
I finished all my promotional posts, but they need a little time to ferment before I send them out. They're all pretty minimal right now and maybe a little more will occur to me. I also finished up this week's Lisa Burton Radio and got it scheduled.
Then a friend suggested a guest post, and I roughed something out but it's still in the works. I also managed reading a half dozen chapters of a new book.
Beyond that, I did my errands and spent a few hours running around town. I'm calling it a good day, even though there was no new fiction involved.
Ennis Fine Furniture is having a warehouse auction that I'd really like to attend. It's on a week night after work, and doesn't fit into either of our schedules. This is mostly about commuting, but we're going to have to give it a pass. My wife has never been to an auction, and it might be interesting. (Twenty miles home, twenty miles back, twenty miles home again. Her alarm goes off at 2:30, mine at 4:00, and we just started Daylight Savings Time… no.)
Thursday is critique group, but there are only two of us now. That won't take very long, and it's near the office.
I have company coming next weekend, so I'm in good shape to slack off a little. It's probably good to step back from Yak Guy, even though I can see the finish line. When I can pick it up, I'll be in a good place to work on it.
Hope you guys had a good Monday.
Does sound like a good day. Hope this week is better than the last one. Sorry about the warehouse auction. Never been to any auction myself, but it sounds fun. Do the people running it really talk that fast?

They do, it’s almost like a chant, but you can hear the bid price.

It’s an impressive skill.

I got one of my much wanted Hoosiers at my first auction. Fortunately for me, they put it on toward the very end of the evening. I got a super price since most of the crowd had already gone home – with enough left in my budget to get a little companion cabinet as well. Neither are antique-worthy, but they are certainly treasured.
I wonder, reading how much you accomplished, if you aren’t a bit hard on yourself. I’d be thrilled if my list were as long as yours.

Sounds like a really productive day to me.You completed mountains of work and did errands!
I finished two author interviews, some chapters of my new book and some marketing yesterday, as well as running my networking hour on Twitter until 11pm. I felt like I needed to sleep for a week afterwards and that I should have done more. Then I remembered a note on my desk from my little girl, asking me to design a gift for her friend for the morning! #AsleepAtMyDesk today.
Seeing how much you have done inspires me that I can be productive today, as I do tend to get distracted by housework or the biscuit tin.
I find juggling actually writing my next book and marketing my last ones a real challenge. I need to write more to do lists. I took two weeks off after I finished my last book as it takes me time to get some of the energy back I need to begin all over again.
I hope today is a good one for you:)

There are three things that take mountains of time: writing, promoting, and reading. I never seem to get enough time for all of it.

I think it must be the same for all authors. We have a burning desire to write, but then want people to enjoy our stories, which means marketing it. This also terrifies us as marketing means people actually reading our work, rather than us thinking about them reading our work!

It does seem like self torture to a degree.

I know you are made of strong stuff, Craig, so back to work will be fine. Anyone who can cope with your workload can cope with anything!

Thanks for reblogging. I’ll weather the job site. This is the beginning of our busy season, so I can throw myself into various tasks.

Sounds like you’re back to a ‘can do’ frame of mind. 😀 All to the good – if you find a way to coast at the day job without feeling you’re goofing off then your true passions out of work will see you through the boredom/frustrations during the day! 😉
Shame about the auction, but no doubt your wallet will be spared some anxiety about getting ‘competitive moments’! 😀

I don’t know if it’s “can do” or “will do.” I have the ability to get things done even when I don’t feel like it. We need some new furniture, and might have made a deal at the auction. The stars just didn’t line up.

Excellent use of Poop emoji, lol!
I like auctions, and haven’t been in so long. I don’t like doing things after work. Sometimes on Friday, I’m too tired to even meet up for date night. And I don’t get up any earlier than 6:45, like, EVER. So you must be way more tired than I am after work.

That’s how we are too. Plus, after getting up that early, I work a 10 hour shift. So, yeah, I’m tired at the end of the day.

Good Monday, yes. Today? It’s snowing like a banshee. We’re expecting 1-2 feet. Ugh! So, I might say to hell with work and make it a movie day.

We’re expected to hit 70 degrees today.

Lost my internet for two days because of that storm. Ugh! What I wouldn’t give to feel 70 degrees about now.

I know last week was a crappy one for you so hopefully this one will be better. It’s always hard going back after a bad one.
I still need to work on the SE promotional posts. Haven’t even started yet, so I better get busy. You’re way ahead of me.
Just spent 3.5 hours clearing away snow with hubby. We did our drive and our neighbor’s drive with a snowblower and shovels. Forty minutes later the plow came through and left huge wind rows. DH is back at it again with the snow blower, but I’m done for the day. I want your 70 degrees!!

I figure it has to be better. Part of that involves my attitude which is still in the yellow, but I decided red wouldn’t help anyone – me included.
