Still marking time

I don’t want the world to forget about me, so I’m checking in. I’m off between Christmas and New Year. I actually did a bit of editing on Article V, and discussed some angles with Copilot. Nothing has convinced me to modify my ending.

Oddly enough, Copilot convinced me not to trust Meta. I had Grok confirm this. Meta is so heavily tied to Facebook and Instagram that it trains on any searches or conversations I might have with Meta. It’s a good app, but I don’t really want my plots and characters getting out there before I can even write them.

I will have those ‘what if’ level questions with Copilot. I can reserve Meta for simpler issues. “Meta, what is a better name for blue? What is a fun restaurant in Kohler, Wisconsin.” Nothing that might relate to any story pondering.

I did not create any new words yet. I am tired of trying to fit everything into the available hours. I’ve been a weekend warrior author for well over a decade and that is all going to come to a screeching halt. I will report back to the office in 2026, but in mid January I am retired.

Then my days are my own. I can write for a couple of hours every day and won’t have to squeeze everything into Saturdays.

We had a lovely quiet Christmas and way too much good food. This includes dips, snacks, fancy cheeses. All stuff that is probably bad for me, but I really don’t care.

We received something called SuperBox for Christmas. This device replaces Dish Network and gets all of the familiar streaming services. It also seems like we don’t need subscriptions for them. They say their model is paying for these up front. Time will tell if that continues, but for now this is going to save us a fortune.

I’ve been monkeying around getting YouTube set up on SuperBox. I enjoy watching old concerts with YouTube. Works pretty well, too. Watched a two hour Wings concert yesterday.

I admit to slacking off for now. I have a couple of new novel ideas and will keep dwelling on those. When the ideas start to coagulate I’ll start storyboards and not worry about writing them until I can finish up a couple of other projects.

I really need to get back to actually publishing the stories I write. I am determined to learn a few things about cover art, and may take a stab at it. My pseudonym is a perfect place to experiment with this.

With an additional 50 hours per week at my disposal, I might actually accomplish something.

The changes to my life are real and I am going to take the time to absorb my new realities. It really is slacking off, but it is also charging my batteries.

Bear with me and watch this space.
