Lot’s of distractions this week, including keeping an eye on the dog who is improving every day.
I started my editing passes on Article V. It is slow going, but probably should be. I am reading a classic, but not dedicating much time to that either. It has been kind of a slog and doesn’t really allow for long stretches. I find myself having to pause and absorb.
My wife picked up something at the store for me that was a wonderful surprise. It is called Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. This stuff is like ambrosia. I’ve only had one a couple of nights ago, but might go there again after this posts.
Three of the “old guys” from work are going to get together for lunch on Tuesday. I am looking forward to that, but really don’t have anything new to share. We all retired from the same hellhole and I’m just excited to see them all.
Lately, I have been on a bit of an apple mission. I’ve been buying the bags of five to seven. This means they are the B-grades and could be a bit misshapen or even smaller than the ones that go in the display areas of the store. Doesn’t affect the way they eat.
The good news is that none of them are bad. I enjoyed the Honeycrisps, but they might be a little softer than some of the others. Fujis were crunchy and sweet. I tried a new-to-me one called Sugar Bee. These were also good, but they have a mighty skin on them. We’re talking the kind of skin where you need dental floss afterward.
Fuji’s are probably my favorite so far, but there is a bag of Galas waiting for me in the refrigerator.
I decided to binge watch Monarch just to get ready for the new season coming up. This season dropped in 2023, and I forget a lot of stuff when they take three years between seasons. This is just how modern streaming works and I should be excited when my favorites get a second season at all. I should think about the last season of The Boys before the final season drops in a month or two.
I hope all of you had a good week and are enjoying your weekend. Drop me a comment and let me know what you’re up to these days.

I just came out of a two-day online conference about marketing and promotion. I think I’m going to cry.

Don’t share. I don’t want to cry.

I apologize. I probably shouldn’t have jumped into reading blog posts right as soon as it ended.

Sounds like a good week, Craig. It has been nice here, no snow for a week.

We only got a couple of skiffs all year. This is generally snow country.

Yes, it has been snowing here, but quit for about a week. It’s supposed to start snowing again after midnight tonight. We’ll see how it goes.

That stout sounds delicious. The apples sound great. We don’t have that kind of “seconds” opportunity here.

They’re just little plastic bags already prepared. You might have to load your own bag like a caveman.

But the discount won’t be there.

I should really get back into eating apples. Used to bring one to work until my lunch break ended up being pushed to within an hour of leaving. There was one I remember that was called a Cosmic apple, which I really liked. Another that tasted like an apple lemonade or something, but it disappeared from the store within a month of appearing.

It started as a quest for seckle pears. Something’s just disappear forever. I remember when the golden delicious apple was king and they don’t know up anymore either.

Forgot about the golden. Wonder what happened there.

I love apples of all kinds, but lately, my favorite is the Cosmic Crisps. Give them a try! 🙂 Glad you’re editing. That means it’s closer to publishing. Enjoy the get-together with the former co-workers. It will be fun.

I also like Fuji apples better than most varieties.

Haven’t gotten into apples in a long time. It’s kind of fun to see some of the new varieties. But, yeah, Fuji is on top right now.

I love apples too, Craig. The Fuji here in Michigan haven’t had much taste. I like Cosmic Crisp, an off-shoot of Honey Crisp, another favorite. I used to find Braeburn apples, but that’s been years! I love pears, but they are really overpriced right now. I’m glad you’re doing well in your retirement.

I also enjoyed Monarch and was surprised at the second season, as the last episode of season one seemed to be a setup for the new King Kong movie. I am also looking forward to The Boys, which has a lot of easter eggs and familiar faces from Supernatural, a series I watched one episode of and then became obsessed with.

Nice to see you out and about, Don. I started Knight of the Seven Kingdoms last night to fill the gap until Monarch. Surprisingly good.

I haven’t checked that one out. Game of Thrones left me disappointed in its last season, so I haven’t watched any of the other related shows. I’ll have to check them out.

Good news about Frankie. I love a good apple, and Sugar Bee is also new to me. Not sure about that thick skin. I don’t drink beer often, but that stout sounds intriguing.

Apples are good for me, but I decided to turn it into a study. That beer is so good.

Looks like you had such a productive week. If I manage to get out of bed before noon, I call it a win. Have a wonderful and creative week to come.

I fear life becoming like that. I lament the days when I don’t get much done, but the pegs do move if I take a larger view.

Sounds like a good week, Craig – nice and relaxed with some good stout, writing, apple sampling, and movie watching. Glad the dog is doing well too. 😀

Hi Craig, I always enjoy your catch up posts. I hope the dog is now recovered. Retiring is a great celebration. I think retirement is the only time in your life when you don’t have obligations to learn or do stuff (within reason)
