My parents came for a visit this weekend. I don’t think I’ve seen them face to face for about a year. I know they haven’t come since Covid showed up, and they generally don’t travel during the Winter.
Things were subdued for obvious reasons. Mom likes to shop, but that didn’t happen. We all like to go to dinner, but that didn’t happen either. We had some upscale takeout from one of the popular restaurants around here instead.
We did a lot of visiting and that was the important part.
My daughter found a good deal on a floor model washing machine. It was in Boise, so we all made a drive to pick it up. I brought it home and left it in my truck until she could make arrangements to transfer it to a different truck for the trip to Sun Valley. That was our big outing for the weekend.
I have my blog tour stops in place for the coming week, but need to get the volunteers lined up for the following week. I’ve already heard from a couple and will get some things mailed out before bedtime tonight. I’ll just have to catch up on the others later.
Honestly, I wouldn’t trade the family time for another blog post.
Old What’s Her Face and I rearranged part of the garage. Some old things are headed for the dump. I found a couple of other things my brother might make use of. We made space for a 5 cubic foot freezer. It’s small, but we think it’s awesome. I’ll probably test it out by frosting a couple of beer mugs tonight. If that works we have about half a pig coming soon. This thing has been boxed up in the garage for too long, and it was time to deploy it.
Still watching for the first review for The Ballad of Mrs. Molony. I hope a few more show up. It’s a fun story, respectful of readers’ time, and perfect for some Halloween fun.
How was your weekend? Hope you got to do something fun.
Sounds restful.

Been a lazy weekend. Allergies caused me to move slow, which isn’t bad. I’ve got a long week ahead of me. Happy to help with the blog tour.

It’s great you got to see your parents. Half a pig sounds like a good way to christen a freezer. Enjoy. We had more “to do” things than fun things this weekend, but it’s always nice to get them done:)

I agree. Checking them off is satisfying.

That’s so lovely to hear about your family visit. I’m still waiting to see my dad and my husbands parents. We haven’t seen either since around Feb. This whole COVID thing has been so much harder that I thought it’d be in the beginning. And that’s coming from the queen of introverts.

It’s been rough, for sure.

Sounds like a wonderful weekend. I have get out there and finish cleaning the garage. Last time I ran into mice from when my daughter left things for storage, which included some food…have a great week.

Sounds like a great weekend and family catch up, Craig. Hubby and I got some housey things sorted out too, but mostly we just relaxed 🙂

I was happy to see them, even though I talk to them every Sunday.

Had my first shopping outing in forever. Suffered two panic attacks because of the masks. And one asthma attack because of the mask. Did get Christmas decorations bought, though. And more importantly, spent time with my daughter. I’d say I also got some fresh air, but…

Sounds rough. Some of that isn’t worth it, but family time trumps all.

So glad you were able to spend time with your family, Craig! And getting some more space in the garage is always a good thing.

Sounds lovely, Craig. We haven’t seen most of our family for almost a year, too, and it sucks. We chat on the phone, but it’s not the same as face-to-face.

I’m so glad you got to spend time with your parents. This whole COVID situation has really put a crimp into gatherings and family is so important. I had a low-key weekend at home (though hubby and I did go out for breakfast on Saturday morning). I managed to write a blog post and added some words to my WIP but not much.
BTW, I just started Mrs. Molony. It’s a fun read, especially at this time of year!

Glad you got to do something. It was nice seeing everyone, even if we couldn’t do much.

Glad you did a clean out of the garage – we are cleaning out 37 years of living in the same house, before a move. I agree time spent with family, especially now, is SO important. Not your things but people.

It was a different weekend, with Covid restrictions. Still got to visit, and wound up with a “more” organized garage.

Late in here, but… Glad you got to see your parents, and got some organizing done in the garage. I’m almost caught up on the books I’d already promised to read and review, so yours is getting pretty close to the top of my list.
One of the dogs got neutered last Friday, so I spent the weekend cuddling with him and watching DVDs to try and stop him causing problems with the healing, and because he was so miserable about sporting one of those plastic cones. Made a blanket and pillow nest on the floor, which the dogs both thought was awesome.

Sometimes dogs feel like my only friends. I don’t mind spoiling them a bit and a nest on the floor sounds wonderful.

It was. Thinking of doing it again this weekend, just because.
