I had some good intentions, but failed once again. I managed about an hour of writing on Saturday with the intent of a bit more today.
When I stopped, Old What’s Her Face was on the phone with our daughter. She was doing laundry and being bored. I mentioned that if she drove to Boise, we would buy her dinner as a joke.
It took legs from there. Our daughter brought two large baskets of laundry and ran it through our machines.
We wound up going to Olive Garden because it’s our daughter’s favorite. I have to admit being impressed with their new menu. My meal was wonderful
She stayed this morning until around 3:00, and I’m not going to dive into my MS this late in the day. It was virtually a lost weekend, but I’ll take it.
I already mentioned that in three months or so, our daughter is going to leave the state. Seeing her will become damned near impossible after that, so I’ll take all I can get.
There will be other weekends, and I will finish this project eventually. Back to work tomorrow.
Haven’t been to an Olive Garden in a long time. Curious about this new menu now. I’m guessing there’s never any joking about getting treated to dinner or a place to do laundry.

We have several people who bring laundry, or used to. Even my brother-in-law used to bring a basket when he visited. Whatever allows them to visit, I suppose.

Family first! With your drive you’ll get it done, Craig.

I agree. There’s always another weekend, but only one family.

Not sure why your post is showing up in my comments section. Had that with Stephen Geez too. I have to check it out.

I gotta check the settings. This is the second time it has happened. WP is so weird sometimes.

You can always delete the “comment,” but that doesn’t answer why it’s happening.

Those spontaneous get-togethers often result in the best times. Glad you had that time with her. Your WIP can wait.
It’s been years since I’ve been to an Olive Garden. I seldom enjoyed a meal there, and when I did, they seemed to immediately take that dish off the menu. I wonder what the new menu is like…

I thought it was great for a franchise place.

Enjoy her while you can, Craig. Son #2 was in TX for a year, and we only saw him a few times. Glad to have him back for however long.

I agree completely. Everything else will keep.

It sounds like a wonderful weekend to me. I’m glad you got to enjoy more time with your daughter, and dinner out sounds wonderful. I haven’t been to Olive Garden in ages, but now you have me wanting to give it a try!

I missed your post about your daughter leaving the state. Glad you could enjoy her while she’s here. Our grandson was in California during his time in the marines and stayed there when he got out. He just decided to move back to Indianapolis to be close to family. We’ll get to see him a lot more often, and it’s wonderful!

We’ll have to figure some of that out once she learns where she’s going.

I will always take spending time with the kids over anything else. Glad you got a nice visit and meal in!

I feel the same way, even without the meal. Just time with each other.

Life as chaos rears its head occasionally and is never satisfied with a simple wife stranded with dead battery what are you doing for the next three hours. No, no. Tip of the iceberg, once the dominoes start to fall… pick your cliche it all means “you ain’t getitin’ shit done so don’t even bother thinkin’ you might.”

Yeah, but in this case it was a good thing.
