Wrapping up the weekend

We did some random things this weekend without completely going out in public.

Saturday became a writing day, too. I managed about 2800 words on the day, so it was better than Friday. I think I need to start skipping ahead on the warfare and have an idea how to accomplish that. Wednesday is my flex day, so I might give it a shot. This story has a lot to accomplish beyond the war.

We managed some takeout from Wingers on Saturday night. Made for leftovers tonight. Nothing too special, but I always liked their sticky wings.

During Wingers, we watched Mortal Combat. It was exactly as advertised. Brutal, action packed, not angling for an Academy Award.

Speaking of the awards, Old What’s Her Face insisted on watching the red carpet show. She does not want to watch the actual awards, but the fashion seemed to make her happy. While it was on, I hooked up a few more hoses and puttered about that way.

I watched a few episodes of a new show called Shadow and Bone on Netflix. I’m still not sure I like it. That seems to be how Netflix things work. By the time it wraps, I usually put them in the win column.

It’s just basic life around here. Happy to have worked on my story. We rented a movie and hung out.

  1. Sounds like a good weekend. Congrats on the word count. I worked on blog posts today, something I haven’t had the energy or inclination to do in a while. Amazing what finishing the first draft of a WIP will do.

  2. I’m watching Shadow & Bone too. Got one episode left and I might finish it tonight. It was okay, but I felt it jumped a bit too much. Not in a different timeline way like The Witcher. More that it was too many stories going on at once. It’s clearing up now though. Maybe it’s the 1st season shakiness that most shows have.

What a pleasant (and productive) weekend. Mine was spent cleaning, packing, and gosh, dealing with high pollen counts. I like yours better! 😁

  5. My oldest son saw Mortal Kombat in the theater this weekend. The one by him is open and even with social distancing, he thinks it was sold out. Guess people are ready to get out. I watched the first two episodes of Shadow and Bone, but some of the casting hasn’t won me over yet.

  6. No words for me on the WIP this weekend but I did manage three blog posts, so I was happy with that. I wanted to watch the red carpet show but we ended up being distracted with some things that popped up unexpectedly.

Congrats on your word count. I hope to be able to add some new words to mine soon.

  7. Sounds like a good weekend. The rest of this month is going to be busy for us, but I’m hoping for a lazy May with lots of writing time. I’m still making progress with my book, but it’s been really slow. Our grandson’s with us right now, so we watched Mortal Combat, too, and I really enjoyed it. I tried to talk Nate into Pride and Prejudice and Zombies the next day, but he wasn’t having it:) Good luck with Lanternfish. I’m waiting to read it!

  11. I’ve heard mix feelings about Shadow and Bone, some love it, some hate it. I’m not crazy about the era, to be honest.
