I had a lunch meeting today. I usually don’t see the sun this time of year, because of how my commute is timed. Aside from the window in my office, it’s usually the darkness for me.
However, as I left the building, there is this decorative pond which is also a drainage site for the building. It froze, then the water level dropped. I thought it looked like a topographic map, others in my office thought it looked like an agate.
It was worthy of a photo, so I snapped one.
It was so cool, I cropped one side, then used as blog wallpaper. The stones are kind of cool in it, too. What do you think?
Whoa, that IS cool, like a ginormous geode cut in half.

I had to take the photo. It was compelling.

That is really cool. I can see both the topography and agate ideas.

No idea why it formed those lines, but I’m guessing it froze multiple times as the water dropped.

Thanks. It would have been easy to just skip along to my appointment, but a brief pause was worth it.

That is a seriously cool photo, Craig. My brain immediately went to … it could be something alien … lol. Makes great wallpaper too. I’m also imagining this life sized and people trying to cross this vast ice tundra with its deep and deadly chasms … mmm … great image for inspiration 🙂

Thanks. I don’t pause often enough to take in my environment.

That’s what the people at work were reminded of. Pretty cool that it did that.

I got lucky the way I cropped it. Sometimes it repeats and makes an odd panel. Glad you like it.

Thanks. It’s a keeper. My co worker saw my image, then snapped his own today. He’s going to get it framed for his house.

Oh I love it! It really does look like agate! What a great shot, and for wallpaper too. Nicely done.
I see about a half hour of daylight in and out of work this time of year. I really, really hate driving home in the dark. 😦
