About as predicted

I spent most of Saturday working my way through some critiques. Aside from spelling and punctuation, I didn’t change much. Little things to make one of my characters a bit more relatable.

There may be more to do, but I want some distance from that section before I look at it again. I managed about 500 new words, but nothing to brag about.

We did the PPV thing last night and watched Venom. It wasn’t really canon, but I still enjoyed it. Kind of sad seeing Stan Lee, but things like this happen.

I also started reading a book I’ve been waiting for. I’m not very deep into it, but enjoying it so far.

Oh, and I spent a day and a half getting to a lightbulb. The house is fully illuminated once more.

Aside from mailing out a couple of review copies of Lanternfish, that was my weekend.

I made some dinner rolls today, but I’m not impressed. I added a palmfull of salt, and they still need more. Salted butter makes a huge difference though. We’re going to be dipping them in potato soup, so the camouflage will help too.

The house is all mine tomorrow, aside from Bulldogs. Old What’s Her Face has to work. If the dogs can avoid chasing the squirrel every ten minutes, I might get some new words on the page.

Honestly, these guys are so funny, it’s impossible not to get up and let them chase one. The squirrel is on top of the fence, and bulldogs aren’t jumpers. They’re like two little fat rhinos charging across the lawn.

It may not sound like much, but I enjoyed my weekend. I hope all of you guys did too.

  4. I’m chuckling because you’re the fourth person today who has mentioned doing something with light bulbs. Either buying or replacing, but it seems like there’s a national theme going on here.

  5. It’s been a busy weekend for me. Saturday was devoted to house cleaning, laundry and errands. Today has been hours of WIP editing. I’m off tomorrow so I’m hoping to make the most of it.The WIP as to be ship-shape to send to my editor the end of the month. I can’t wait for February!

    Hugs to the bulldogs! 🙂

  7. At least you got some productive writery stuff done; my weekends usually pass in a haze of tv, video games and too much junk food. I’m too afraid to go see venom. He was my absolute favourite char when I was growing up (I’ve ALWAYS loved the anti-hero). I’m too afraid to see what Hardy does with him… and yeah, seeing Stan Lee might just make me cry.

  8. Sorry the rolls aren’t as good as you hoped. At least the butter and soup will help with that issue.

Glad the rest of your weekend seems to be going well. Nice you made some good progress on your new writing projects.

At least the dogs get plenty of exercise attempting to chase the squirrel. I do feel a little sorry for the squirrels. Although, since the dogs can’t get at them, that’s OK. Besides, if the squirrels keep coming back, chances are they enjoy the game too. I’m sure they’d have learned to avoid your garden by now if they didn’t. So I don’t need to feel guilty for finding it amusing imagining Otto and Frankie’s squirrel chasing attempts.

We had a busy weekend. Visited my nearly-mom-in-law at a hospital in Plymouth on Saturday and Sunday. We hope she’ll get discharged soon. Also on Saturday, we collected our wedding rings … the day gets ever nearer! No writing done at all and very little reading even, but it felt good to get all that other stuff taken care of instead. Glad you enjoyed yours 🙂
