Lost Opportinities

I’ve been quiet for days here now. This is because I haven’t felt well. I don’t have any real sickness conditions, but there has been an occasional wet cough. Mostly, I’m just tired. I’ve never experienced this before. One day I woke up and was ready to go to sleep an hour later.

I’m not writing this to garner sympathy, everyone gets sick eventually. I missed a couple of days at work because of this crud, and that pisses me off. I still don’t feel awesome, but I’m going to work tomorrow come hell or high water.

What irks me about the whole thing is the loss of a weekend. This is when I write new words, work on outlines, and get Lisa Burton Radio all written and scheduled. I won’t have an interview this week, and that bugs me.

I managed to send out one guest post, and made some word searches on The Hat. That’s about it for me. We managed date night last night, but even then, I felt like I was going to fall asleep during it.

There are some who try to take care of me though.

  5. I certainly hope you kick whatever it is. Here is an old medicine man chant. Dowaggie dowaggie. simma simma, chow chow. Dwazzle dwazzle, mucha mucha. Mowe mowe. You’ll feel better in the morning.

  6. Seeing a household sick with presumably the same virus that manifests itself in a constellation of different symptoms depending on the person affected is part of what makes my job so much fun. I am sorry it has made you feel so miserable and unproductive, though.

  9. This virus has visited us over here in UK, we are all affected. Being so tired all the time is frustrating… Here’s hoping it goes away soon, for all of us!

  12. Well bummer. I’m sorry to read that. I’ve had a few where tired, lethargic really, was the main symptom. Not fun at all. Enjoy recliner and puppies, it can’t last forever. :/

  13. I got absolutely zilch done on the writing front this weekend too, although not because I was ill. Sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves to produce. When you don’t feel well you should be able to veg without feeling guilty about it.

I know you’re back at work today and hope you get through the hours with leftover energy!

  14. Hi Craig,
First I do not write this to scare you or anyone else. Three-and-half years ago I was having bouts what I thought was the flu. Although, it only last a day or two and I would feel like normal. Two or three weeks later, the same thing happened. Each time the symptoms were a little more severe. After the third time, I also started having night sweats. They too increased in severity over time. After three months, I knew something was not right. I went to my primary care physician and began testing. They found out I had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Fortunately, when caught, I was in stage one and with some chemo and radiation, I beat cancer.
I mention this as caution only because we know our bodies and we also know when things aren’t right. My advice, it is better to err on the side of caution than to ignore your body when it is telling you something isn’t right.
Hopefully, Craig, you are just tired or have something minor. Get well soon.

  15. If John’s ‘chant’ doesn’t work, try rubbing your tummie with one hand, and, with the other hand, pat the top of your head… But, then, having been a kid once, you know how well it works! ♥
