We slept in a bit today, because the breeder offered to meet us in Twin Falls, instead of making us drive all the way to Burley. We loaded our new puppy bed, new toys, etc., making sure we had a bowl and some fresh water.
The breeder said the whole litter was spoken for, but she wasn't sure about one of the buyers. They want her to ship their puppy to Florida. They also never made a deposit. The breeder told them she would not ship, but they could still buy the puppy if they flew to Idaho, and held her on their laps on the return journey.
To fully appreciate this, you need to know a couple of things. These puppies are ten weeks old. That's a huge difference than say, ten months old. Bulldogs are also one of the brachycephalic breeds. This means, among other things, they have pushed in faces that interfere with breathing. Cargo holds do not get extra oxygen or heat.
They were still debating whether someone could fly to Idaho to pick up the puppy, until we solved the problem for everyone.
So in a nutshell, Frankie is the dark one. The other one is Nyx. (My wife named her, sorry Charles.) They're both pretty lively, and Nyx is a major cuddler.
Otto is their half brother, and he seems well pleased with the situation.
Right now, they're all out back and hopping around like a bunch of frogs. Otto keeps following me to the garage, like he expects me to bring another load of puppies inside. I'm pretty sure this is enough.
We're such suckers. Honestly, what would you have done?
It's been a long drive, and I'm ready to kick back. I'll post a video on Facebook of the girls and an old flip flop.
I was conned into keeping a stray kitten. He’s a little worse for wear but in better health than I expected considering he had the tip of an ear torn off. Now if the giant GSDs (comparatively) don’t break him in two…

If they’re being good around her, you probably won’t have a problem.

Mostly – Sam just gets so excited with babies and has wanted a cat for a while since the last one died = yes he wants a pet cat. He’s been almost uncontrollable since the kitten arrive.

The puppies are exploring and having a great time. Otto is so excited he’s all out of breath. I understand.

Sometimes they take the tip of the ear of kittens if they’re fixed. That’s what the animal clinics are doing now. Not sure if that’s true of your kitten but that’s what they told us when they did ours.

Seems like a strange thing to do.

I thought so too, but they said it’s a way to distinguish them now. That way if they end up lost, animal shelters know they’re fixed. They also have a small tattoo on their stomachs.

THREE dogs in your house?!?!!?!!?! Oh, my. Hide your slippers and shoes. Nothing is going to be safe for a good long while!

So true. Still, getting it all finished at once could be a good way to do it.

Seems like the right thing to do. The Florida thing sounded a little sketchy from your description. Can’t imagine a ten week old puppy doing well on a plane as cargo.
Let’s hope this Nyx has a milder temperaments than the one I deal with. 😜

Hard to tell yet. She seems to be the crazy one so far.

In that case, keep her away from anything flammable. Just to be safe. Loved the Facebook video.

Thanks. Otto seems to have the idea that these things came with new toys. He’s playing with their toys now.

He’s being a good boy. Nyx has been in his face a bunch, but he’s tolerating it well.

How adorable! It happened to us with kitties. We were supposed to get one kitten and ended up with two last Fall. Congrats!

I bet. I’ve been dreaming of a puppy the past week. I’m not ready yet but some day maybe.

You da man. I would have done the same thing. You know both now have a good home and two are as easy as one. Plus they will be together. I’m proud to know you. 😀

It felt like the right thing to do. I can’t imagine shipping a short coated puppy in a cargo hold. That’s a situation where you take odds on whether she’ll be alive at the other end.

It was a fairly sleepless night. I’m sure there are a few more ahead of us until everyone gets used to things. They’re pretty fun.

You old softie, you 🙂 I think it’s awesome what you and your wife did. And now Nyx and Frankie can grow up together, overseen by big bro Otto. Love the photos, especially the one of the girls in their bed. So adorable!

They have very different personalities. That surprises me a bit, but is a fun discovery.

I think you did the right thing for Nyx. OK, so things at your house are going to be a little more crazy than you expected for a bit, but it’s still the best thing for the puppy, and you were prepared for crazyness anyhow. It sounds from your replies in the comments section like things are going well so far. Hope that continues to be the case. Oh, and congratulations on the new additions.

The whole situation screamed puppy miller to me. After being around Nyx that would be a tragedy. She is pure personality.
