Today is kind of a transition day. I started out trying to catch up on blogs I missed while camping. It's kind of a futile effort.
The Halloween promotions are still happening. Sales are doing fairly well, but it took a lot of work to get there. This brings me to my conundrum. In order to move into the next project, I have to lighten up on the promotion stuff.
I'm not fond of promotion, but I know it's required. There were several blog posts today about new promotional toys. I decided to test drive several of them.
I managed to make this:
Not terrible. It looks pretty good as a tweet. I used a different app to post this tweet:
There are a lot of options, and I'm sure there is one that doesn't block part of the text. It was a test drive. Twitter gets a lot of action, but it never seems to involve sales to any degree. It doesn't take long to post something like this, even if it doesn't lead to sales. Recognition and familiarity have some value too.
I finally started editing my next book. I started with the part I hate – word searches. You know, it's vs its, your vs you're. I have more to go, but it's a start.
I'm actually looking forward to the part where I read the story over and over. I just need to get through the word search part.
I'm kind of excited to start writing my next one too. A heavy frost is predicted here, and it's starting to feel like writing season. This has nothing to do with Nanowrimo, since I never participate. Non-participants are not blocked from writing in November.
Promotional stuff will carry over into November to a small degree. Editing will also start in earnest. I may even begin drafting the story of yak guy by the end of the month. (Note to self: Yak guy really needs a title.) It's looking like November is going to be a month of change around here.
Back to the paycheck job tomorrow.
Love the book, I am right in the middle. Hope to finish by Halloween 🙂

I’ve been seeing promos like that all over the place and never really figured out where they came from. Curious to find out how effective they are. Good luck.

That’s me, always late to the party.

The promos are cool. I found a “cheat” to promotions, which I’ll share in my next post,,,if I ever find time to write it. LOL We need more hours in the day!!!

Wow, I love the twitter post. That is so cool? What app did you use?
I’ve probably sold more books from Twitter than Facebook, but I’m really fond of Twitter 🙂

Maybe you could give me a Twitter lesson. I never have discovered a sale I could attribute to Twitter. I made images in PicCollage, and used that image in PhotoFunia. I don’t mind doing the work part of promotion, I just want to spend my time wisely.

I’m going to check out PicCollage and PhotoFunia. They both sound like great resources. I think the trick to Twitter is engaging in conversations and connecting. When I really connect with someone on Twitter, I usually end up buying their books and vice-versa. Also promoting books on Twitter sporadically seems to help.
Do you know about Triberr and Hootsuite? Using Hootsuite really lets me connect with others on Twitter. If you’re unfamiliar, I’d be glad to share. Hmmm…maybe I should do a blog post on the benefits of both and how/why I use them!

I looked into Hootsuite, but wanted it for writing blog posts. It wasn’t suitable for that. I would love to see a post about them.

I need a writing related blog, so I’m going to do it. Thanks for the nudge!

That’s energetic. My world is one blog to rule them all… I probably should join some additional social media and force feed Entertaining Stories to it.

Not so energetic as it sounds…I just meant I’m going to write a post for my blog (that’s writer related). I use Hootsuite to organize Twitter and Facebook (mostly Twitter). I only have my single blog too, but I have it feeding a few places. 🙂

Got it. I probably ought to have a few more of “those places.” I have a tentative meeting with someone who might offer me some insight into more. I just don’t want to babysit a bunch of sites. This takes up more time than I like already.
