At least for a while. My paycheck job took me to North Idaho for a few days. During this time, I missed some of your posts. This happens from time to time and there isn't much I can really do about it.
There is a trick I pull, and it might be interesting to my fellow bloggers. I surf into my stats and find the one about my most frequent commenters. I can click on them and go directly to their blogs. The point is that bloggers enjoy interaction, and I try to never miss those who interact the most. I may not be unique here, and it pays to interact on the blogs you enjoy. Say hi, leave a comment, it matters.
I'll get back in the swing for a few days, then we're taking a real vacation to the coast. I'll keep in touch, but won't give up family time or events either.
We saw several large forest fires on our trip. I'm always the driver, so I don't have any photos for you. Everyone else snapped a few. There is one East of Grangeville that looks like a volcano on top of the mountains. All of Idaho is covered in smoke, and visibility is limited.
I have company coming in today, so this post is going to be short. I need to accomplish a few promotional things before they arrive. I'm working on September and even October events, but it all happens in August.
Please visit Ali Isaac's blog today. She's running something new called Friday Fantastic Flash and asking for participants. I participated, and you should too. When I checked my stats this morning, I noticed something funny. My re-blog of Ali's site was my 666th post. Had I known that I would have prepared something paranormal, but my micro fiction is a bit of science fiction fun.
To come full circle, leave a comment at Ali's site. She participates in her comments too, and I'm checking regularly to answer any comments I might get.
666 posts–wow. I have a long way to go before I reach that, but I’m already anticipating the fun I could have. I can’t imagine many bloggers get to that point though. That’s some longevity! (Well, for someone who only posts weekly to every other week like me.)

I wasn’t paying any attention to those numbers. It just caught my eye today, or I would have planned something.

You’ll have to catch 777 when it comes around. That one should have a happier theme than 666. 😉

Good plan.

Cheers Craig! Those forest fires sound kinda scary to me. Probably comes from the fact that I live in such a wet soggy boggy country, I cant imagine the land being so tinder dry.
666 posts, hey? I never realised how prolific you are! How long has it taken you to get there? I think Im around 350 ish, been blogging with WP just over 2 years. Cant imagine there being a time when I didnt blog!

I started blogging in Fall of 2013. I try to post every day but Tuesday and Thursday. Nothing is set in stone, and I don’t always hit those days. Most folks get 1000 followers in one year, but I’ve never gotten to that mark. The followers I have are very loyal and supportive, and that’s a more important concept. Grateful to have you along for the ride.

Really??? Its taken me over two years to get to just over half that amount of followers! We must be doing something wrong! 😁 Well but its not about quantity, is it? Like you, I get great interaction from my followers and that makes me very happy!

Many things go into our number of followers. A male author blogged as an adventurous female author and used a cute graphic as his Gravitar. Numbers skyrocketed. Maybe I ought to start a blog for Lisa, and write as her.

Lol! That would be fun! I wonder who I could be?

Anyone you want, I suppose. His shtick worked because it was presented as real life. Lisa the robot might make someone suspicious. It’s a tempting experiment.

I’ve been busy and I know I’ve missed posts, too. Coincidentally, yesterday on NPR I heard a report about the wild fires in the west. I didn’t know they were in so many states, and that firefighters from New Zealand and Australia were coming to help fight them. Apparently, the US has sent firefighters to those places, too. There are Canadian firefighters here, too.
Congratulations on your 666th post!

I’ve always been an observer of the larger systems. People talk about global warming. I’m watching the bands of climate shift north. These have names like sub-tropical, etc. the southern edge of the pine forests are observably shifting north. If I live long enough, maybe we’ll get Joshua trees in Idaho.

Hmmm. . .don’t think I can hit “Like.”

I was reading your comments. You should post as Lisa! I think I speak for everyone when I say, we love her so much. Honestly, I don’t know how you blog so many times a week and write and work full-time and…

I treat writing like a job, but it’s more like an unpaid internship. I enjoy the social aspect of blogging on its own. People like you make it fun.

Oops. Writing a snarky character now. She must have slipped out. 🙂

Some of them are the most fun. I have one named Clovis in my next novel that was an absolute blast to write.

They so are! I always try to include at least one. The novel I’m working on now is the new-improved Timber Point, my cat burglar story. She’s as snarky as they come–and I love her! She’s so much fun to write, but it does bleed into daily life sometimes.

My guy kills people. I’ve tried not to adapt in real life.

I like the way you alluded to how you make a point to communicate with the bloggers who leave a comment. I do the same.
Enjoy your weekend company and all that 🙂

There are a lot of people who never even leave a Gravitar. New bloggers might not understand the social aspect of blogging, so I pointed it out.

I wish everyone would connect their Gravatar to their site! Sometimes I click and it goes nowhere, only to have me stumble upon their site later.

Interesting about the fires in Idaho. I used to live in Northern California and once those puppy’s got started it was hell getting them out.

Idaho burns in some fashion every year. We have a lot of uninhabited areas. Right now it’s mostly smell and visibility. CA has homes everywhere.

Very true. So in Idaho the fires are actually doing what they are supposed to do. Clean off the old veg and let the youngsters have at it.

Pretty much. Makes for good mushroom hunting next year.

Sorry I missed this post on Friday. I hosted a family reunion on Saturday with out-of-state relatives coming in and Friday was party-prep day. Everything was fabulous, but now I’m playing catch-up online. Congrats on all your posts! You are blazing a trail.
Speaking of which, glad you only saw those forest fires from a distance, but all that smoke sounds freaky!

No worries. Sounds like your reunion came off well. I’m playing a bit of catch up myself. Sometimes we miss a post or two. The good bloggers will always write more.

Oh, I hate when we get fires. I wish I could send some of this rain your way.

It’s dry over in Oregon too. I’ve never been here when it was this dry.
