All my gyrations over the past couple of days were progressive too. There was following up with everyone from my book push, working on both sides of my critiques, and expanding my outline.
Still, there’s nothing quite like new words on paper. I had a few personal errands, then the whole house was mine. I made the best of it.
One of my characters wound up killing a whole bunch of people. Good times there. Now he has to deport them, by floating them down The Mississippi. I haven’t decided if that happens off camera or not, but probably off camera.
By the end of the day I’d added 2604 new words to The Playground. Total word count right now is 29,357. Not great progress, but it was progress all the same.
How about you folks? Anyone out there adding new words to a manuscript?
Nope, not me. But that may be because I don’t have a manuscript to which I would add any new words.

That’s a great word count. At the minute I’m editing so it’s not about words. I’m hoping that I’ll soon be back to writing.

That’s the non-fun part of the job. I’m to the point that I consider all of it writing now. Plotting, planning, writing, editing – all part of the job.

NaNo is pretty popular. Good luck with it. I’m sure word count posts will be all over WordPress in a few weeks. Go get ’em.

Right now, I have just completed the first draft of a story, so these next months will be focused on editing (3 stories I actually have to do). Good work on adding to your manuscript. As you said, any amount of words added is progress–you are more closer to completing it 🙂

I think it all qualifies as writing. From outlining to choosing cover art. Sounds like you’re making progress too.

Good luck! I have a manuscript due this month, and much work still to do. I’m doing a lot of writing!

I don’t envy those deadlines. I get those at my paycheck job. On my time I make up the rules.
Now if someone wanted to pay me to write, I’d be okay with that.

Why, yes, as a matter of fact, I have; thank you for asking. I’m up to 49,510 words and 2/3 through the MS story. This next 10 days is too busy for my taste, though, and I may not get to add any more before then. But I’m glad to hear you had some progress too, my friend. 🙂 YAY, YOU! 😀

I worked on a different project today. I hope it helps you. I’ll get a bit of writing time tomorrow, since it’s a holiday.

What?! Have I missed something? I thought you were working on The Cock of the South! It’s the first I’ve heard of the Playground. But I’m happy you have got off to a good start with it, that’s a great word count!
I have finally got Book 3 started… wrote the prologue, and ch1, ch 2 is stewing in my head right now, and just this weekend I came up with the ending, for the book, and also one which I think is worthy of ending the Trilogy, so I’m quite happy.
However, I have spent way too long reading blogs, posting on social media, and answering emails/ comments, and consequently have got nothing written today… and this morning was my only chance! Oh well…

In 2014, my goal was to self publish four old manuscripts. I have several others that will never see the light of day. TCoS is the final one of those old projects.
I’m finished with a new MS called Will ‘O the Wisp. I think it’s the best story I’ve written so far. That leaves me with a WIP I’m calling The Playground.
It probably seems like a lot, but I had a head start with four old manuscripts. Once I’m done with old MS #4, I want to step up my game. I may have to explore advance reviews, blog tours and the like. W’OW really deserves that kind of push.
